Somers Lions Club launches 'Adopt A Family' program

Posted

SOMERS, N.Y. - The holiday season is upon us, and in Somers, the spirit of giving shines brighter than ever.

The Somers Lions Club, in partnership with the Somers Retired Teachers and our wonderfully generous neighbors, is once again launching the beloved Somers Adopt A Family initiative, a warmhearted tradition that helps families in need experience the joy and comfort of the season.

For years, this program has turned wishes into reality, filling homes with laughter, hope, and holiday cheer. Now, it’s your turn to step into the role of a holiday hero, dust off your elf hat and join the effort to make this season extra special.

Right now, volunteers are connecting with families to gather their Wish Lists, heartfelt notes that reflect what would truly make their celebrations brighter. By “adopting” a family, you’ll bring those wishes to life through gifts and support that carry the true meaning of the holidays.

Every gift and every act of kindness creates a ripple of joy that lights up our entire community. Your participation doesn’t just make a difference, it changes lives.

To join in, visit www.roonga.com/nysomersadoptafamily2025, where you can learn how to adopt a family. The page is updated daily with new families in need until Dec. 5. If you don’t see a family, please try again tomorrow as all wish lists must be in by Nov. 25. Gifts need to be delivered to the VanTassel House from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13. More information can also be found at SomersLionsClub.org or by scanning the QR code.

Let’s come together, Somers. Let’s spread hope, share love, and make this holiday season unforgettable for every family in our town.
