Residents are once again invited to lace up their sneakers and celebrate community, wellness, and motherhood at the 7th annual Mother’s Day Run, set for 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 10, at 18 Lee Road.
Now a cherished local tradition, the event offers moms an opportunity to take time for themselves while connecting with neighbors in a supportive and uplifting environment. Organizers say the run is less about competition and more about camaraderie, encouraging participants of all fitness levels to join in.
The event features a 3.2-mile loop with a few hills, but participants are welcome to walk, jog, or run at their own pace. Strollers and pets are also welcome, and the flexible format allows moms to modify the route as needed. The course begins and ends at the same location and will be clearly marked for ease of navigation.
At the finish line, participants can expect a warm welcome, complete with hugs and a celebratory spread of refreshments, including water, mimosas, and bagels. While the event is intentionally non-competitive, an optional official time clock will be available for those who want to track their run, followed by a brief awards ceremony once all participants have finished.
The gathering continues with a casual post-run potluck, where attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, snacks, and dishes to share. Festivities typically wrap up around 11:30 a.m., with organizers noting that prizes are part of the fun and can be awarded to anyone.
The event is made possible in part by generous donations from local businesses and community members, including JV Bagels, Sweet Delites, Dunkin’ Donuts, Fancy Nails, and supporter Heather Maguire. Organizers say they are always looking to partner with additional local businesses interested in contributing to the event.
No registration is required - participants can simply show up, with early arrival encouraged to allow time for socializing and warming up. Community members are also invited to line the route and cheer on the runners and walkers.
With its blend of fitness, fun, and fellowship, the Mother’s Day Run continues to be a meaningful way for local families to celebrate the holiday and the women who make their community stronger.
