Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul won a second full term Tuesday, defeating Republican challenger and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, according to the Associated Press, which called the race shortly after polls closed at 9 p.m. The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal and the New York Post also reported Hochul’s victory, citing AP’s call.

As of 10 p.m. Nov. 3, unofficial results from the New York State Board of Elections showed Hochul and running mate Adrienne Adams with 2,,415,595 or 66.05%, compared with 1,200,129 votes, or 32.81%, for Blakeman and running mate Todd Hood. The state reported returns from 6,708 of 13,187 election districts.

The figures remain preliminary and subject to change as counties submit additional returns. The Board of Elections cautions that all valid ballots must be canvassed and the results certified before the outcome becomes official.
