Medical and surgical eye care practice in Yorktown Heights

She received her BS in biology from Tufts University and continued her studies at Tufts Medical School, completing her ophthalmology residency at the New York Medical College, where she served as chief resident.

Common age-related eye conditions that can be treated at Pham Eye

Cataract

  • Blurry vision, glare and halos affecting distance and/or near not correctable with a prescription.
  • Cataract surgery can restore vision with the options of laser surgery, advanced technology lens implants and if needed glaucoma implants.

Glaucoma

  • Usually no symptoms. High pressure can cause headaches, glare and halos.
  • Treated with laser, glaucoma eye drops, and eye surgery. Glaucoma implants can be placed at the time of cataract surgery.

Age-related Related Macular Degeneration

  • May have blurry central vision and a distorted Amsler grid
  • Dry form is usually managed with close observation, UV protection, no smoking, dietary changes, multivitamins and monitoring the Amsler Grid. New medications are now available.
  • Wet forms are treated with the above in addition to intravitreal injections and laser by a retinal specialist.

Diabetic Eye Disease

  • May have blurry vision that fluctuates with elevated blood sugars.
  • Managed by controlling blood sugars through diet, exercise, medications, and close follow up with endocrinologist and primary care physician.
  • A yearly dilated eye exam may include imaging to assess for retinal disease.
  • May need treatment with laser, intravitreal injections, or surgery by a retinal specialist.

Blepharitis

  • Crusty, irritated, red eyelids
  • Causes burning, tearing, redness - usually worse in the morning.
  • Managed with daily eyelid hygiene, medication - topical, and/or oral antibiotics.
