NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - Waterview/Salem Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare will conduct a facility-wide active shooter emergency preparedness drill at their campus on Route 22 in Purdys on Wednesday, July 1, from approximately 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The exercise is part of the facility's ongoing emergency preparedness program and is intended to help staff practice and strengthen emergency response procedures in a controlled environment.
During the drill, residents, visitors and staff may notice increased activity throughout the campus as emergency preparedness protocols are carried out. Facility officials emphasized that the exercise is only a drill and that there is no actual emergency.
Officials said resident care, safety and comfort will remain the top priority throughout the exercise. The drill is also designed to help evaluate the facility's emergency response plans and identify opportunities to improve preparedness.
Visitors who are at the facility during the exercise may be asked to follow staff instructions as part of the drill.
Facility administrators said they appreciate the community's understanding and cooperation as they work to maintain a safe and prepared environment for residents, visitors and employees.
