NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - As North Salem’s teams head down the stretch, there has been no shortage of highlights in Tiger town!

BOYS LACROSSE

Dobbs Ferry 15, North Salem 7

Monday, April 27

The Tigers came up short on the road behind a 4-goal performance from Drew Karam. Tyler Bynes had 12 saves.

North Salem 11, Port Chester 3

Thursday, April 29

North Salem bounced back behind an offensive clinic from Karam (7 goals) and Nico Rouse (4 goals).

Clarkstown North 11, North Salem 3

Saturday, May 2

The Tigers couldn’t keep the momentum going at Salem Fest. Karam (2 goals) and Rouse (1 goal) handled the scoring and Bynes had 20 saves.

North Salem 12, Albertus Magnus 11 (OT)

Tuesday, May 5

Karam led the charge with 7 goals, including the overtime winner off a feed from Nico Rouse, who notched a hat trick. Brady Armstrong and Owen Killeen both added a goal in the thrilling win.

“What these young men showed today was the true definition of heart, toughness, resiliency, and what it means to be a team,” said Coach Vin Savastano. “Every single player gave everything they had for each other, and the effort, passion, and fight they showed is something they will remember for the rest of their lives. Games like this build character and brotherhood. Years from now, these players may not remember every play or every stat, but they will always remember the feeling of battling together, refusing to quit, and finding a way to overcome adversity as one family. I could not be more proud of this group. Every player stepped up and gave every ounce of energy they had.”

The squad fell in a battle with the Bulldogs, but Karam provided a bright spot with a goal and a pair of assists to log his 100th career point.

The Tigers picked up a big win in the One Love game, held in honor the memory of Yeardley Love to promote awareness of healthy relationships and the prevention of relationship violence.

Noemi Torres (4 goals, 3 CTO, 3 ground balls), Ashley Cindrich (3 goals, 1 assist, 2 CTO, 2 ground balls), Abby Cassidy (2 goals, 2 assists, 3 ground balls, 4 DC), Sienna Paldin (2 goals, 1 assist, 6 DC), Sydney Merriman (1 goal, 2 CTO, 2 ground balls), Kylie Robinson (1 goal, 1 assist), Emma Greenberg (1 goal, 3 ground balls), Jaella Henry (1 assist), Kerri Nemeth (1 assist), Grace Schaeffer (2 CTO, 2 ground balls), and Alana Cerasoli (2 CTO, 2 ground balls) had strong showings for North Salem.

Kylie Dell (3 saves) and Emma Hickey (1 save) split keeper duties.

The Tigers won big at Salem Fest, with senior Noemi Torres scoring 5 times to notch her 100th career goal. Paldin and Cassidy had hat tricks with Merriman, Robinson, Henry, and Nemeth adding one goal each.

North Salem 19, Scarsdale 7

Tuesday, May 5

The squad kept the momentum going with a big win on Senior Night, honoring Noemi Torres, Ashely Cindrich, Kylie Dell, Zoe Elias, and Abby Cassidy.

Cindrich had 5 goals in the effort, while Cassidy chipped in a hat trick to log her 100th career point.

League Championships

Thursday, April 30

North Salem hosted the League Championships, welcoming more than 250 student-athletes from Croton-Harmon, Haldane, Pawling, and Putnam Valley. The Tigers delivered against tough competition, with Freyja Smith taking All League honors in three events and tossing for a state top 20 mark in discus. Shailey Ray also earned an All League nod in high jump.

Big Red Invitational

Saturday, May 2

The squad was back in action against 48 teams at the annual Big Red Invitational in Somers. Smith once again provided the highlight for the Tigers with a second place finish in the pentathlon.

Wednesday, April 29

James Nemeth carded a one-over 37 as the squad took their first loss of the season.

North Salem 230, Brewster 243

Thursday, April 30

North Salem bounced back against their league rivals the following day, with Nemeth carding his best round of the season with a one-under 35 and Lucas Virzi shooting a season-best 43.

North Salem 221, Carmel 270

Tuesday, May 5

Nemeth (41) and Connor Meehan (45) had outstanding rounds as the Tigers made short work of their opponents at Centennial Golf Club.

Sophia Aqeel went 3 for 3 and Cora Kennedy hustled for an inside the park home run as the Tigers took a tough loss on the road.

Brewster 13, North Salem 7

Saturday, May 2

The squad celebrated Senior Day, honoring Cora Kennedy, Sophia Aqeel, Marissa Ferrara, Cianna Cioce, Brianna Rodriguez, Biranna Mulero, and Sarah Laino.

Aqeel (3-3, triple, HR), Kat Ocdenaria (3 RBI), and Riley Sullivan (2 RBI) played strong in the effort.

BASEBALL

Pawling 19, North Salem 1

Tuesday, April 28

The squad took a tough loss to their rival Tigers at home. Colby Baer went 3 innings on the mound, surrendering 8 hits.

Saturday, May 2

The Tigers got blanked at Salem Fest.

Putnam Valley 27, North Salem 0

Monday, May 4

North Salem's bats remained quiet during a Tiger tussle with Put Valley.
