NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - A crowd of North Salem residents came together with local officials at the Croton Falls Firehouse on Titicus Road to honor the heroes and victims of the terror attacks on September 11.

Giving remarks was Pastor Timothy Wagner of the Croton Falls Community Church, who offered not only his personal account of the aftermath, but also words of hope and inspiration for the community.

“It became evident that the world as we knew it was changed,” he recalled.

Wagner and countless others were on hand to offer support in the days following the attack, and seeing the efforts and unity of first responders in the face of evil and horror had a lasting impression on him.

“That feeling of evil turned to hope, and that hope stayed with me,” Wagner continued. “In the face of evil, we can come together as a community.”

The solemn crowd gathered on the firehouse lawn was left with the most important message of the evening before Wagner concluded, once of the importance of never forgetting the lives lost on that fateful September day.

“Let their memory always be a blessing to us.”
