Students at Meadow Pond Elementary School Meet Fierce Creatures

Posted

SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. - Students from Meadow Pond Elementary School touched a shark’s jaw, patted an ermine’s silky white pelt, looked at an owl’s talon and felt an alligator’s sharp teeth during the Fearsome Predators Workshop, led by PNW BOCES Center for Environmental Education.

Students also met Koudra the corn snake. Each animal that was introduced brought new topics to the conversation, ranging from camouflage and prey to longevity.

Throughout, Mr. Danny, the PNW BOCES educator, stressed how important predators are to the ecosystem they live in.
