Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows return to North Salem

The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows, one of the premier stops on the nation’s hunter-jumper horse show circuit, is ready to welcome the season with another two weeks of world-class equestrian competition. The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows offer a full schedule of USEF and FEI events featuring many of the nation’s best horses and riders, May 5-10 and May 12-17.

The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows host competitions for riders of all levels and ages, ranging from young children on ponies to Olympic veterans, such as local hero McLain Ward (USA), Daniel Bluman (ISR), Nayel Nassar (EGY) and Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA), aboard their grand prix mounts. Week 1 (May 5-10) is USEF ‘National-6’ rated for hunters and jumpers and designated FEI CSI3*; Week 2 (May 12-17) is USEF ‘Premier-6’ rated and designated FEI CSI4*. Welcome Weekend, May 2-3, is unrated and open to all exhibitors.

The Spring Horse Shows’ Week 1 takes place May 5-10 with highlights including Thursday’s $32,000 FEI 1.45m Two-Phase, Friday’s $63,000 New York Welcome Stake Presented by Evergate Stables and $25,000 National 1.45m Jumper Classic, Saturday’s $32,000 FEI 1.45m Time First Round Presented by The Kincade Group/UBS Financial Services, and Sunday’s $15,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic Presented by Eastern Hay, before the highlight event on Sunday afternoon, the $125,000 Old Salem Farm Grand Prix Presented by J.P. Morgan Private Bank.

Week 2 competition follows May 12-17, featuring Thursday’s $32,000 FEI 1.45m Two-Phase; Friday’s $65,000 Welcome Stake of North Salem Presented by J.P. Morgan Private Bank, $25,000 National 1.45m Jumper Classic Presented by The Will Stuart Team, and $5,000 Old Salem Farm Groom’s Class; Saturday’s $100,000 Governor’s Perpetual Hunt Seat Cup Presented by The Kincade Group/UBS Financial Services, $32,000 FEI 1.45m Time First Round Presented by Fidelity Investments, and $25,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby; and Sunday’s $15,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Junior/Amateur Jumper Classic Presented by Evergate Stables,  before concluding on Sunday afternoon with the $225,000 Empire State Grand Prix Presented by Old Salem Farm.

The ambiance at the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows is unlike any other venue in the country with over-the-top hospitality and unique shopping offered along Old Salem’s popular Boutique Row and Vendor Pop-Up. The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows also feature a collection of local, gourmet food offerings and family-friendly activities including pony rides, face painting, arts and crafts and more. Among the food vendors who will be onsite this year are Betty’s Kitchen, Everything About Crepes, Soup Ninja, and V-Fib Coffee. Pizza Girls will also be present on both Saturdays (May 9 and May 16).

From Welcome Wednesday to Fiesta Friday and Family Fun Weekends, every day is special at the Spring Horse Shows!

Old Salem caters not only to the comfort of the people visiting the historic facility but also to the horses competing onsite, providing top-notch care alongside sponsors such as the HEART Equine Ambulance, Eastern Hay & Grain, and FootingFirst.
