NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - While the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library in North Salem remains closed due to a mold remediation project, folks there assure the public that “things are moving quickly” and that weekly updates will continue to be available on its website.
In its last post, the library said it was “securing the unaffected parts” of the building, which is located at 276 Titicus Road (Route 116).
“Our priority is to protect the building, complete this work responsibly, and reopen safely for the community,” it said.
On the to-do list were environmental testing and assessment, containment and securing of unaffected areas, remediation planning and actual work, vendor coordination and scheduling, working with insurance companies, obtaining necessary approvals for said work, and coordination of next steps.
The library also wanted to assure residents that despite the situation, it was still there for the community.
Virtual services and programs will continue. For information, check the library’s online calendar and social media for upcoming events and registration links.
Digital resources – ebooks, audiobooks, databases, and streaming services – remain available.
Patrons can pick up holds and return books at any Westchester County Library System member library.
The library also urged folks to look for its staff “in the schools and out in the community” if they just want to touch base.
“We will continue showing up and sharing services while we work toward reopening,” it promised.
Meanwhile, it wouldn’t be averse to getting a little financial help.
“If you would like to support the library right now, your gift helps us meet immediate needs and support the reopening work,” it said in its latest post.
