NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - As the spring season winds to a close, Freyja Smith is keeping her foot on the gas.
Fresh off a historic performance that saw her capture the first discus County Championship in school history, the junior kept the momentum going at the Class C championship meet on May 29.
Taking on tough competition at Pawling High School, Smith finished the day with second place finishes in both shot put and discus. Fellow junior Jennifer Killeen tossed for third place in discus.
Jonathan Alves (5th, 400H) and Skyler Smith (6th, 400H) also had solid showings for North Salem.
Freyja Smith was scheduled to compete at the Section 1 Javelin/Hammer/Racewalk Championships on Wednesday, June 3, and state qualifiers for discus on Friday, June 5, alongside teammate Kathryn Dupree who will be competing in both the 200M and 400M.
Freshman Shannon Moravick will attempt to qualify for states in the 3000M on Thursday, June 4, at Arlington High School.
