Birthday Bash! North Salem seniors celebrate in style

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - A lively bunch of North Salem super seniors have proven that there’s no age limit to celebrating the day you were born.

The party girls this year were Millie Martin (101), Rosemary Silvestro (95), Peggy Lynch (94), Mary Regan (93), K.C. Hessler (90 plus), and Janet Markey (90 plus).

The big birthday bash was marked by the North Salem Seniors Club with cake, song, crowns, presents, and pizza on Sept. 8 at the Croton Falls Fire Department’s firehouse on Titicus Road.

When asked how she felt about being 94, Lynch admitted candidly - but with humor: “Tt’s better than the alternative.”

Regan was enjoying herself as well.

“It was a nice surprise with all these people here and the gifts that we got. I appreciate it. And it’s nice meeting people that I’ve known over the years,” she said.

Silvestro remarked that she’d had a great-grandfather who had hung in there until 102.

“So I’m not finished yet,” she quipped.

There was a bit of a poignant note as well as Silvestro mentioned that her husband, Thomas, had passed away at the age of 92 in 2023.

“I miss not sharing my birthday with him,” she said, thanking everyone who turned out to help her and the other honorees celebrate.
