NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - With a promising blend of rising young talent and experienced upperclassmen, North Salem enters the winter track season optimistic and energized. Coach Chris Gould says the team’s mix of returning leaders and new additions should make for an exciting year as athletes settle into their events and begin to mesh as a unit.
On the girls’ side, senior captain Emma Gautier anchors a veteran core that includes fellow seniors Ashley Cindrich, Zoe Elias, and Kiley Dell. Together, they’ll guide a deep and developing roster featuring sophomores Shailey Ray and Leah Nissman, and freshmen Shannon Moravick, Kinsey Levesque, Bella Soria, and Sophia Sheridan. The group brings a strong balance of endurance, speed, and versatility across events.
The boys’ team will be led by junior captain Jonathan Alves and sophomore captain Drew Karam, who step into leadership roles with confidence. They’ll be joined by junior Skyler Smith and a promising group of freshmen that includes Everett Fryer, Mateo Mergeche, Chase Contrelli, and Kody Alvarez.
As the Tigers open their schedule, Coach Gould says the goals are twofold: helping athletes reach key individual milestones and testing the strength of North Salem’s relay squads as they face League, County, and Class competition. With enthusiasm high and rosters growing, the Tigers look poised to make steady strides throughout the winter season.
The Tigers are set to kick off the season at The Armory on Sunday, Dec. 14.
