NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - Fresh off last year’s trip to the section finals, North Salem volleyball enters the season with renewed confidence and unfinished business.
Coach Toni Fiore will guide a roster made up of eight seniors, six juniors, and two sophomores, anchored by a strong core of returning starters and veteran leadership.
Leading the way for the Tigers are a trio of captains in senior outside hitter Addy Moia, senior defensive specialist Cora Kennedy, and junior setter Sadie Matt.
Moia and junior middle hitter Ally Maza were the team’s top offensive weapons a year ago, and Fiore expects them to once again pace the team in kills. Matt will continue to quarterback the offense, distributing assists while also being a threat from the service line, and junior libero Sophia Miller is primed to anchor the defense after leading the team in digs last fall.
Several players are stepping into larger roles, including senior Keira O’Hanlon, who is vying for a starting outside hitter spot, and Kennedy, who is expected to contribute significantly in digs and aces.
While the Tigers did graduate five seniors, Fiore believes this group is ready to build on last season’s success.
“After making it to the section finals last year, we’re coming into this season with a new kind of confidence,” Fiore said. “We saw how far we were able to make it in the tournament and we got a taste for what it could be like to bring a title home to our school.”
With team chemistry already forming just one week into preseason, North Salem enters 2025 both hungry and determined. The goal is clear: return to the Westchester County Center — and this time, finish the job.
