BYSNS (Brewster/Yorktown/Somers/North Salem) trailed 7-4 but rallied for a 8-7 triumph against Horace Greeley.
Lucas Salvatore (3G, 2A) tied the game on an unassisted goal with just 44 seconds remaining in regulation then won it with 55 seconds left in overtime, off an assist from Sam Cucinell.
“The message after the second period was that we played well all game apart for the last seven minutes of the second period, we were determined to not let that define the outcome,” said BYSNS coach Ryan Langkafel. “We knew if we stayed strong defensively we would give ourselves a chance to get some goals and come back. This group has some real resilience and determination, there’s a lot of fight in our team and we were able to force overtime, dominate overtime and find a way to take the win.”
AJ Jones (3G), Danny Luis (2A), Ryan Dean (1G), Henry Rossi (1G), and Patrick Vaughn (19 saves, 1A) also contributed to the victory.
