NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - It was a tough few weeks in Tiger town, but North Salem’s student-athletes have always been known for their resilience. While the Booster Club tournament didn’t end favorably for either basketball team, both squads eventually bounced back and picked up big wins on the road. Off the court, winter track had another strong showing at The Armory, and the BYSNS knocked off New Rochelle in a slugfest on the ice.

BYSNS (Brewster/Yorktown/Somers/North Salem) defeated New Rochelle 8-5, paced by AJ Jones (2G, 3A), Lucas Salvatore (3G, 1A), Michael Bonelli (3G, 1A), James Munoz (2A), Jack Leavy (1A), Danny Luis (1A), and Patrick Vaughn (13 saves).
The win avenged a 4-2 loss at New Rochelle on Jan. 11.
“We felt confident in how we played against them the first time,” said BYSNS coach Ryan Langkafel. “We were unfortunate to not pull away with the win then, so we were determined to avenge that loss on home ice. We didn’t concede a goal in the third period and that’s due to the determination to execute the game plan which our players did tremendously.”
