NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - Spring is in full swing in Tiger town, and our squads have wasted little time putting the competition on notice. Recent highlights have included boys lacrosse jumping out to an undefeated start, and softball picking up a thrilling win on the strength of some big bats in the lineup.
Boys Lacrosse
North Salem 10, Sleepy Hollow 7
Monday, April 7
After their big opening day win, the Tigers kept things rolling on the road behind another offensive showcase from Max Cotrone (4 goals, 4 assists), Justin Major (3 goals, 3 assists), and Drew Karam (3 goals, 2 assists). Mike Bonelli had 9 saves in goal.
North Salem 18, Yonkers 3
Thursday, April 10
The squad returned to the friendly confines of Tiger Stadium and put on a scoring clinic against Yonkers. Major (5 goals, 2 assists), Coughlan (4 goals, 3 assists), Karam (3 goals, 3 assists), Cotrone (3 goals, 2 assists), George Naber (1 goal, 5 assists), John Gogo (1 goal, 1 assist), and Nico Rouse (1 goal) all stepped up in the statement win.

Saturday, April 12
North Salem's unblemished season continued as they came out on top of a Tiger tussle at home. Putting an exclamation point on the win was senior Justin Major, who had 1 goal and 4 assists and notched his 100th career point in the process.
Cotrone (6 goals, 4 assists), Karam (5 goals, 1 assist), Coughlan (3 goals, 1 assist), and Naber (1 goal) all chipped in to send Croton packing. Bonelli had 11 saves in goal.
Softball
North Salem 10, Westlake 8
Thursday, April 10
The Tigers picked up a thrilling comeback win on the strength of a pair of home runs by junior Sophia Aqeel.
North Salem drew first blood in the second inning, with Aqeel hitting a solo shot and fellow junior Marissa Ferrara singling in a pair of runs.
However, the visitors had their say in the bottom of the third, plating 7 runs on five hits.
Undaunted, Aqeel hammered a grand slam to tie the game in the fifth, adding another RBI off a single during the following inning. A single by 8th grader Kathryn Ocdenaria kept things rolling and helped the Tigers pull away for the victory.
Chloe Matt notched another win on the mound, striking out eight batters.
Haldane 16, North Salem 4
Monday, April 14
The squad couldn't keep things going on the road against a tough Blue Devil team. Aqeel had a three-run homer, and Ferrara tripled before being driven in by an RBI single from Cora Kennedy. Cianna Cioce and Sarah Laino also notched their first varsity hits.

Westlake 17, North Salem 14
Friday, April 4
The squad ended the week with a slugfest against the visiting Wildcats. Ashley Cindrich (4 goals, 1 assist), Abby Cassidy (3 goals, 1 assist), Noemi Torres (2 goals, 1 assist), Kylie Robinson (2 goals), Sydney Merriman (1 goal, 1 assist), Taylor Fogle (1 goal), Emma Greenberg (1 goal), Sienna Paldin (2 assists), and Ruby Molina (1 assist) all got in on the action.

Tuesday, April 8
The Tigers came up just short in a defensive struggle, surrendering only one goal in the second half. Cindrich led the scoring with a pair of goals, with Paldin, Greenberg, and Torres also finding the back of the net. Kylie Dell was sharp in goal with 8 saves.

Monday, April 7
The Tigers kicked off the season with a solid showing at Centennial Golf Club, led by sophomore James Nemeth who carded a 39 to help power the win.
Arlington 191, North Salem 225
Wednesday, April 9
Nemeth led the way again, shooting an even-par 36 as the team came up short against Arlington at the Links at Union Vale. Despite rainy weather and cold temperatures, five players managed to improve upon their scores from previous rounds.

Panther Palooza
Saturday, April 5
The Tigers traveled to Rye Neck and continued to show improvement against tough competition.
Highlights of the day included the boys (Dylan Sheridan, Josh Wilson, Jonathan Alves, and Tyler Spar) and girls (Shailey Ray, Jen Killeen, Freyja Smith, Emma Gautier) sprint medley relay teams both taking 6th place finishes. Smith would also take 4th in discus and 6th in shot put.
“It was a little rainy and windy and not ideal conditions to race, but we still saw many improvements from the week before,” said Coach Chris Gould. “That is what we're looking for, to get better.”
Dual Meet
Friday, April 11
The squad squared off against Mahopac just before the break with a number of Tigers turning in solid performances. Emma Gautier led the way with a 1st place finish in the 800M, Fryeja Smith finished 1st in shot put and discus, Nyles Winslow took 4th in the 200M, Jen Killeen took 2nd in discus, and Skyler Smith finished 3rd in the 400M.
