NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - On Friday, May 30, the Tigers took their talents to Pawling High School for the Class C championship meet.
With seven members competing, North Salem’s track team kept the season’s momentum rolling with every competitor punching their ticket to the state qualifiers on June 4 and 5.
Leading the charge was sophomore Jennifer Killeen, who claimed the Class C championship with a first place finish in discus.
Fellow sophomore Freyja Smith took third in the pentathlon, and the Tigers also benefited from strong showings by Grace Barbarossa (7th, high jump), Emma Gautier (9th, 400IH), and Shailey Ray (21st, 400M).
On the boys side, sophomores Jonathan Alves and Skyler Smith finished 5th and 7th in the 400IH, respectively.
Rounding out the day was a 6th place finish by the girls 4x400 relay team, consisting of Gautier, Killeen, Ray, and Barbarossa.
“It was a strong showing for everyone, and we are so proud of their accomplishments, ” said Coach Chris Gould. “Jennifer being a Class C Champion is amazing, and Freyja took third in just her second pentathlon competition. We’re excited to see what happens at qualifiers.”
