NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - Entering the section tournament as the #3 seed, North Salem softball showed no fear when they traveled to take on #2 seeded Haldane on May 27.
The Tigers poured on the runs, battering the Blue Devils 13-1 and punching their ticket to the section finals.
Leading the charge was junior Cora Kennedy, who went 4-4 with a home run and a pair of doubles.
North Salem’s offense exploded in the third inning, as the squad scored 10 runs on the strength of clutch hits from Kathryn Ocdenaria, Chloe Matt, and Erika Saez, with junior Sophia Aqeel adding a solo homer to center field.
In total, the Tigers racked up 13 hits in the game, including multiple from senior Avery Schoenberg and junior Marissa Ferrara.
Chloe Matt got the win on the mound, allowing four hits and striking out two.
North Salem will now face #1 seed Tuckahoe in the section championship game at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 30, at the Town of Haverstraw Sports Recreation Center.
