NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - After capturing the section championship in dominant fashion last week, North Salem’s boys soccer team kept things rolling in the first round of regionals.
The Tigers squared off against Section 1 champions Rhinebeck at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School on Nov. 6 and showed no signs of taking their foot off the gas.
Providing the heroics with a pair of goals was sophomore Juben Lazri, who had previously netted a hat trick against Haldane in the sectional semi-finals and scored another in the 6-0 rout of Tuckahoe in the finals.
Justin Major and Aidan Santis added assists and George Naber had 4 saves in the 2-0 win.
North Salem now advances to the next round of the Class C regionals, set to face off with Greenport at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Diamond in the Pines in Brookhaven.
