NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - North Salem and school district residents are invited to the town’s 250th anniversary celebration! From 5 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, the community will gather at North Salem Middle/High School for an evening of history, music, and patriotic fun.
Meet the local patriots who fought for independence with the North Salem Historical Society, play 18th century games from Philipse Manor Hall with Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, toss tea bags at King George with the North Salem Democratic Committee, and enjoy patriotic crafts and a free raffle from the North Salem Republican Town Committee. There will also be face painting provided by the North Salem Seniors and North Salem Recreation Department, a chance to discover “founding flowers” with the North Salem Open Land Foundation, and athletic challenges from North Salem Youth Lacrosse, North Salem Youth Baseball & Softball, and BYSNS hockey. The evening will also feature food trucks, patriotic mini golf and a chance to meet George and Martha Washington courtesy of Living History with Michael and Maria Grillo.
Live music will be provided by Y Not, Andrea and the Armenian Rug Riders, Sherman Hill Band, and Emily Bidiger, with Mike Levesque serving as emcee and the National Anthem performed by Kelly Levesque and Fraser Walters. The evening will conclude with a spectacular fireworks finale.
Organizers note that there is no alcohol allowed on school grounds, and pets are not permitted with the exception of service animals. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and flashlights, and car pool if possible. The rain date for the event will be Sunday, June 21.
