NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - The first day of 2026 saw the swearing in of elected and re-elected officials in North Salem.

Taking the oath on Thursday, Jan. 1, were Supervisor Warren Lucas, Councilman Martin Aronchick, and the town’s new highway superintendent, James “Bo” Depaoli, and its new receiver of taxes, Karol DeLuce.

About 50 family members and friends attended the ceremony, which was held in the town’s meeting hall on June Road.

Sworn in on Friday, Jan. 2, was Deputy Supervisor Peter Kamenstein. His ceremony had to be postponed because he was out of town on New Year’s Day.

Lucas, who was first elected as supervisor in 2009, thanked those gathered and supporters for again returning him to office.

He also praised his colleagues on the Town Board, which is comprised of three Republicans and two Democrats, noting that “unlike some other towns, we work very closely together.”
