NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - Close to 200 folks – many wearing Santa hats and other festive gear – took part in the North Salem Lions Club’s Run of the Mills Jingle Jangle 5K.
Held on Saturday, Dec. 7, the race started at the organization’s community center at the corner of Route 22 and Titicus River Road in Purdys and proceeded up Mills Road and back.
Runners received a mug or T-shirt when they registered and hot cocoa and other goodies at the finish line.
It was a family friendly event. Even little ones in strollers took part.
Lion Sheila DePaola sang the National Anthem. Mary Devey provided 200 homemade cupcakes. Jennifer Binette headed the race committee. Sal and Gail Pantezzi served coffee and did the sign-ins. And a whole pride of Lions did multiple other things to ensure that the race was a great success.
Local police shut down the road and directed traffic.
A roaring good time was had by all, said Lion John White.
The race’s sponsors were Meccanic Shop North Inc., Durkin Propane, and Heritage Propane.
