NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - North Salem High School junior Emma Greenberg has been recognized for her excellence both in the classroom and on the basketball court, earning the prestigious Isabel Costa All-Academic Award at the Section 1 Sports Dinner held on March 24.
Greenberg was one of just five varsity girls’ basketball players selected across Section 1 for the honor, which celebrates student-athletes who exemplify a strong combination of academic achievement, athletic performance, and leadership.
The Isabel Costa All-Academic Award is named after a pioneering advocate for girls’ basketball, who played a key role in elevating the sport into a competitive and widely respected program. In addition to promoting the game, Costa was known for setting high standards for student-athletes, emphasizing the importance of dedication, character, and success beyond the court.
Recipients of the award are chosen based on several criteria, including outstanding academic achievement, contributions to basketball, participation in other sports, involvement in school activities, and demonstrated leadership and service within their communities.
Greenberg’s selection highlights her commitment to excellence in all of these areas, distinguishing her as one of the top well-rounded student-athletes in the region.
