NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - After opening their playoff campaign with a big win over Leffell, North Salem earned a rematch of last year’s sectional championship game against top-ranked Tuckahoe.
The Tiger tussle at Nyack High School on Nov. 2 would unfortunately play out the same way, with North Salem once again coming up short of a section crown with a 4-1 loss.
Tuckahoe’s Brooke Matarazzo led the charge with a hat trick, while sophomore Sienna Paldin netted the lone North Salem goal in the game’s waning minutes.
However, all is not lost for North Salem’s playoff hopes.
Due to an “open bid” in the Class C playoff bracket, the #2 Tigers will still advance to the regional semifinals despite the sectional loss.
North Salem will now face Burke Catholic on Thursday, Nov. 6, at Wallkill Senior High School at 5 p.m.
