NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - The Tigers look ready to start strong with 10 returning players and a crop of new faces.

Leading the squad will be a trio of senior captains. Midfielder Taylor Fogle will contribute on both sides, and looks to build on her 20-goal performance last season which saw her earn an All-League 2nd Team nod. Nicky Berganza and Ruby Molina will anchor North Salem’s defense.

Adding offensive power to the lineup will be junior attackers Abby Cassidy and Ashley Cindrich alongside junior midfielder Noemi Torres. Cindrich and Torres earned All-League honors last season and are expected to be major contributors this year.

“Taylor, Ashely, Noemi, and Abby contributed a combined 104 of our 169 goals and 28 of our 54 assists last year, so we are feeling pretty good about our offense,” said Coach Don Merriman. “We will be looking for some of our younger players to step in and take on expanded roles at midfield.”

Rounding out the offense for the Tigers will be sophomores Alana Cerasoli, Emma Greenberg, and Kylie Robinson and freshmen Sydney Merriman and Sienna Paldin.

On defense, players to watch include junior Zoe Elias, and sophomores Molly Collura and Grace Schaeffer. Juniors Kylie Dell and Maja Olsson will be vying for the starting spot in goal.

“As always, our goal is to work hard, be competitive in every game, improve over the course of the season, and have fun,” added Merriman. “Coach Chris Werlau and I have liked what we have seen thus far during the first few practices of the season. We can tell that many athletes have put in the work over the off season and we are excited to see that pay off on the field this year.”

The Tigers are scheduled to kick off the season against Briarcliff on Wednesday, March 26.
