The Tigers returned home and found their way back into the win column with a big victory on Senior Night. After paying tribute to their only senior, captain Sophia Aversano, the team got down to business and unleashed a balanced offensive attack to send Croton packing.
Kathryn Dupree (2 goals), Aversano (1 goal, 1 assist), Malvino (1 goal, 2 assists), Kylie Robinson (1 goal), and Robin Pockriss (1 assist) all got in on the action, with freshman Kathy Mendez-Giron and sophomore Anvi Ghosh also netting their first varsity goals.
As they prepare for playoff action, Coach Jen Frohman took time to reflect on the team’s progress this season.
“I am so proud of the progress that this group has made throughout the season, being so young, and competing against mostly juniors and seniors as we are mostly sophomores and freshmen and the smallest team in Class C,” said Coach Frohman. “Sophia Aversano has been an amazing captain and leader and putting this entire team under her wing and on her shoulders. They have fought for all nine of their wins, which is a fantastic result being so young and inexperienced. We look forward to competing in sectionals and continuing to grow individually and as a group in the years to come.”
The Tigers enter the playoffs as the #5 seed, and are set to square off against #4 seeded Bronxville on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
