NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - North Salem's cross country squad capped off a strong season with standout performances at the state championship meet on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Queensbury High School.
Three Tigers earned the opportunity to compete against the state’s best in Class D, marking another milestone for a growing program.
In the girls’ race, senior captain Marissa Ferrara led the way for North Salem, finishing 36th overall in the 5K field. Junior Freyja Smith followed with an impressive 49th-place finish.
On the boys’ side, sophomore captain Drew Karam represented the Tigers in the Class D 5K, placing 60th among the top runners statewide.
Coach Chris Gould praised the hard work and steady progress of his athletes, noting that this year’s state qualifiers reflect the depth building within the program.
“It was a solid ending to a successful season,” Gould said. “We are looking forward to 2026, as many of our young runners gained valuable experience this season. The future is bright for North Salem cross country!”
With the season complete, the Tigers will bid farewell to seniors Marissa Ferrara, Dean Ellicott, and David Margolin.
