NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - North Salem’s cross country team returned to the hills of Bowdoin Park on Nov. 8 for the Section 1 championship meet.
A difficult course and top competition did little to deter the squad, who turned in fantastic times and will send a trio of Tigers to states.
In the Class D 5K, senior captain Marissa Ferrara took 2nd and junior Freyja Smith finished 4th, with both runners punching their tickets to the NYSPHSAA championship meet in Queensbury on Nov. 15.
Freshman Shannon Moravick had a great showing as well, finishing 8th and just missing the cut.
On the boys side, sophomore captain Drew Karam finished second to earn another bid at states.
Also logging solid times were Nick Petronzi (14th), Everett Fryer (15th), Jonathan Alves (20th), Andrew Barnett (30th), Chase Conterelli (34th), Andrew Petronzi (36th), Paul Connelly (40th), Mateo Mergeche (44th), and Aaron Brown (46th).
The boys team would finish the day in third place.
