North Salem Boys Basketball Preview: Tigers Look to Rebound

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - With a returning core of veterans and an infusion of new talent, the Tigers are poised to bounce back this year.

Last year’s squad saw a 6-15 season end with a first round playoff loss, but Coach Chris Regan isn’t looking backwards. Instead, he hopes to carry the momentum from the successful fall season some of his players recently enjoyed.

“Many team members played on the soccer state championship team, so they bring a winning pedigree, competitiveness, and athleticism that we will look to take advantage of by playing an up-tempo, aggressive style,” Regan explained.

Returning to lead North Salem on the court this season will be senior Justin Major and juniors Max Cotrone, Connor Meehan, and Sean Randall.

Behind the solid group of veterans, the roster will also be bolstered with the addition of senior Daniel Laino, juniors Jameson Juan, Orlando Mulaj, Patrick Dooley, Aidan Santis, Anthony Federice, and Ryan Denneen, and sophomore Lucas Virzi.

Coach Regan will be entering his sixth season at the helm of the Tigers, alongside JV and Assistant Varsity Coach Chris Brandt.

“Despite North Salem being the smallest (by enrollment) public school in Section One, we've packed our schedule with very competitive crossover and tournament games to prepare ourselves for Sectionals,” Regan added. “We hope to be peaking in March and have a deep run into the Sectional tournament.”
