Mary A. Canniff “May” passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025, after a brief illness at the age of 80.

May was born June 8, 1944, in Balbriggan, Ireland, daughter of the late William and Mary (McComb) Morgan. After completing school May Emigrated to the United States and settled in Queens, NY. She met the love of her life Frederick Canniff and married him on May 1, 1965, in Pleasantville, NY. Eventually they moved to Patterson, NY and became members of Sacred Heart Church. May loved traveling with her husband, they took many cruises, traveled to Ireland to visit relatives and she loved playing bingo.

May was predeceased by Frederick on January 20, 2007. She is survived by her six children: daughters Mary Myslim of Putnam Valley, NY, Elizabeth Loguercio of Williamsport, PA, Linda Scala of Cold Springs, NY, Verna Canniff-Sposato of Patterson, NY; sons Frederick Canniff III of Wappingers, NY, William Canniff of Andover, NJ; brother William Morgan of Poughkeepsie, NY; sister in law Verna Bergstrom of Brewster, NY, sixteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Theresa Gangre.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday June 12, 2025, at at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY, followed by the burial in All Souls Cemetery in Pleasantville, NY. Calling hours were held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Ave., Brewster, NY.
