NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - Kiki DeModna’s remarkable field hockey career at North Salem High School will be celebrated next week when the Class of 2022 graduate becomes the newest member of the school’s Hall of Fame.

DeModna will be inducted at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, at Tiger Stadium, prior to the Homecoming field hockey game. The ceremony will include a speech at midfield by Coach Jen Frohman, followed by the presentation of DeModna’s Hall of Fame plaque.

During her four years with the Tigers, DeModna established herself as one of the most accomplished players in school history. She earned All-League honors in each of her four seasons and was named All-Section from 10th through 12th grade. As a junior and senior, she earned All-State honors.

Her senior season provided a fitting conclusion to an extraordinary high school career. DeModna earned Regional All-American/All-Region recognition, an honor that placed her among the top 11 players in New York State and top 136 players nationally. She was only the fourth player in North Salem history to receive the distinction.

On the field, DeModna left behind a collection of school records that still stand as a testament to her scoring ability. She scored a school-record 38 goals during her senior season, finishing with 51 points on 38 goals and 13 assists. She also holds the North Salem career records for goals, with 70, and points, with 101, having added 31 assists over her four seasons.

Her production increased dramatically as her high school career progressed. DeModna recorded 10 goals and one assist as a freshman, followed by 10 goals and eight assists as a sophomore and 12 goals and nine assists as a junior. Then came her record-setting senior campaign, when she scored 38 goals and added 13 assists.

DeModna scored or assisted in 16 of North Salem’s 21 games during her senior season, accounting for 38 of the Tigers’ 67 total goals.

Her accomplishments were significant enough that North Salem retired her No. 14 jersey following her senior season, permanently connecting her name with the program she helped elevate.

DeModna’s success did not end with high school. She continued her field hockey career at Salisbury University, where she played all four years and helped the team win three conference championships. Salisbury compiled a 61-17 overall record during her collegiate career and advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four during her junior season.

Individually, DeModna continued to collect postseason recognition at Salisbury. She was named to the All-Conference First Team during both her junior and senior seasons. She also earned All-Region Second Team honors as a junior before moving up to the All-Region First Team as a senior.

Now DeModna will return to the field where her record-setting career began to receive one of the school’s highest athletic honors.

Her Hall of Fame induction will take place before the Homecoming game, providing current Tigers, alumni, family members and community members an opportunity to celebrate the legacy of one of North Salem field hockey’s most decorated players.
