NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - After dropping a pair of games to open the season, the Tigers got in the win column in a big way on April 9.
North Salem’s bats came alive at home with 10 hits, but the story of the day was the fireworks provided by junior Cora Kennedy, who homered three times for 6 RBIs in the 14-9 win.
Kennedy got the party started in the bottom of the first with a two-run blast. In the second, Cianna Cioce drew a walk to add another run followed by a single from Erika Saez to drive in two more. Kennedy then went deep once again to add two more tallies to the scoreboard.
Junior Marissa Ferrara kept things rolling in the third with a double that extended the Tiger lead to 8-0.
In the bottom of the sixth, Kennedy went deep to center field with a two-run shot, and Avery Schoenberg singled in a pair of runs. Brianna Mulero grounded out but nabbed an RBI for her troubles.
Chloe Matt earned the win on the mound, giving up 11 hits and striking out two.
