Halston Media is excited to announce the complete relaunch of our websites—a major digital transformation designed to better serve our readers, strengthen our connection to the community, and enhance the value we provide to our advertisers.
Each of our newspapers—Mahopac News, The Somers Record, Yorktown News, North Salem News, The Katonah-Lewisboro Times, The Mt. Kisco-Bedford Times and Hudson Valley Living—now has its own dedicated website, with content tailored to the unique character and interests of each community. These sites are fully integrated with one another and with our regional hub, News.HalstonMedia.com, which features top stories from across the region.
The upgraded platform includes several major enhancements aimed at creating a more useful and immersive experience for both readers and advertisers:
Dedicated Local Websites: Each community now has a custom-built digital home, making it easier for readers to find relevant local stories and for advertisers to reach hyperlocal audiences.
Integrated E-Editions and Archives: Readers can now view our full newspapers—including current and past issues—directly on our websites. Past issues are still being added. This extra visibility benefits our print advertisers by extending the life and reach of their ads.
“Shop Local” Directory (Coming Soon): A new section is under construction to spotlight our print advertisers and encourage local shopping. This feature will make it easy for readers to discover businesses in their own backyard.
Web Extras Section: This feature will showcase lifestyle content that complements our print coverage—such as home and garden tips, arts and entertainment features, seasonal guides and more—providing added value and inspiration for our readers
Community Classifieds and Announcements: Readers will soon be able to post about tag sales, items for sale, school achievements, nonprofit events, and more. Businesses and organizations will be able to post press releases and event notices directly on our platform.
Story Comments (Coming Soon): Eventually, registered readers will be able to post comments on stories, allowing for thoughtful community dialogue and engagement.
This digital overhaul isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about accessibility, engagement and sustainability. By creating a more modern, dynamic platform:
Readers benefit from faster load times, easier navigation and more relevant local content.
Advertisers gain more visibility and access to digital tools that amplify the reach of their print campaigns.
Communities get a digital space where local voices, announcements and achievements can be shared widely and celebrated.
One of the most impactful behind-the-scenes improvements is that our new websites now share a unified content management system (CMS) with our print publications. This integrated platform streamlines the editorial workflow, allowing our editors to manage both digital and print content from one place. It reduces duplication of effort, speeds up publishing, and ensures greater consistency across all channels. Most importantly, it frees up our editorial team to focus more on reporting and storytelling—delivering timely, accurate, and engaging local news to our readers both in print and online.
We see this as the next step in our mission to support and strengthen the communities we serve. While the rollout is still in progress and we’ll continue adding features in the weeks ahead, we’re thrilled to open this new chapter with you—and we welcome your feedback along the way.
