Budding artists are being invited to create posters celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.

Assemblyman Matt Slater has announced the launch of the Revolution 250 Poster Contest in partnership with the Putnam Arts Council.

“This is a great opportunity for students to connect with our nation’s history in a creative and meaningful way,” Slater said. “As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, the next generation must understand the values and sacrifices that shaped our country. And what better way to do that than through art.”

Students can submit posters sized 8.5 inches by 11 inches or smaller.

Entries are due by May 15. Winners will be contacted directly after that date.

Submissions can be dropped off at Somers Public Library (82 Primrose St., Katonah, N.Y.) and John C. Hart Memorial Library (1130 E Main St, Shrub Oak, N.Y.) as well at the Mahopac Public Library, the Brewster Public Library, Putnam Valley Library, Patterson Library, and Kent Free Library.

Winning entries will be recognized and featured in a gallery exhibit hosted by the Putnam Arts Council.

“We’re proud to partner with the Putnam Arts Council on this initiative and provide students with a platform to express their creativity,” Slater said, encouraging all eligible students “to participate and be part of this historic milestone.”
