A fired department open house, photo and art exhibitions, benefit concerts and more events dot the calendar in Bedford Kisco and Pound Ridge this week and beyond.

Fire department open house

The Bedford Hills Fire Department will host an open house Sunday, Oct. 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 332 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills. Visitors can take fire truck rides, watch live demonstrations, explore the trucks and learn about fire safety. Benefit concert at St. Matthew’s

St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 382 Cantitoe St., Bedford, will host a benefit concert for Rural & Migrant Ministry on Friday, Oct. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. Pianist Cynthia Peterson, soprano Sasha Gutiérrez, harpist Liann Cline and a string quartet will perform works by Schumann, Ravel and others. The evening includes a Youth Arts Group presentation and a reception. All proceeds support RMM’s work with rural and migrant communities. Seating is limited. Earthquake relief concert

The all-women Latin jazz and salsa group Las Guaracheras, based in Cali, Colombia, will perform an earthquake relief concert at Jazz On Main in Mount Kisco on Sunday, Oct. 18, from 12 to 2 p.m. The $25 advance ticket purchase ($30 at the door) includes a $25 food and drink minimum per person. Albatross photographs at The Capa Space

Chris Jordan’s “Midway: Message from the Gyre” explores the impact of plastic pollution on albatross colonies on Midway Atoll. His photographs show chicks whose parents mistakenly feed them plastic collected from the Pacific Ocean. The exhibition opened Sept. 19 and remains on view through Nov. 29 at The Capa Space, 2467 Quaker Church Road, Yorktown. Gallery hours are Thursday through Sunday, 1-5 p.m. Visit thecapaspace.org.

Mount Kisco community photo exhibition

The annual community photo exhibition celebrates the nature, culture and people of Mount Kisco through more than 80 photographs by more than 40 photographers. The show opened Oct. 4 at Mount Kisco Public Library, 100 E. Main St., and remains on view through Nov. 4.

Art Hub: Collage & Community

Thursday, Oct. 15, 5-6 p.m., Mount Kisco Public Library. The Mount Kisco Arts Council’s hands-on collage workshop is for council members; artists and beginners are welcome. Visit mountkiscoartscouncil.com.

Artist talk with Evelyn Harvey

Saturday, Oct. 17, 3-5 p.m., Pound Ridge Library. Artist and teacher Evelyn Harvey will discuss her exhibition “Between Branches,” on view through Nov. 14. A reception will follow.

Thousands of native plant seeds representing more than 100 species will be available free Sunday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bedford Hills Community House. Gardening professionals will offer plant information and seed-starting advice. Locally collected native seed donations are welcome but not required. All are welcome. Memoir writing workshop

Author Julietta Appleton will lead a memoir writing workshop hosted by the Mount Kisco Arts Council on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Mount Kisco. Guided exercises will help participants turn personal memories into stories. No writing experience is necessary, and sliding-scale pricing is available.
