BEDFORD CORNERS, N.Y. - Temple Shaaray Tefila in Bedford Corners marked a historic milestone on Oct. 24, celebrating its 50th anniversary with a Proclamation Day ceremony and a dinner honoring Emeritus Rabbi David Greenberg.

The synagogue was filled to capacity as congregants, families, and local leaders gathered to honor five decades of spiritual leadership and community impact.

The evening opened with a proclamation ceremony featuring remarks from Assemblymember Chris Burdick, Bedford Supervisor Ellen Calves, and other dignitaries, each presenting official proclamations recognizing the synagogue’s enduring role in the community and Rabbi Greenberg’s decades of service.

Temple Shaaray Tefila also received a Certificate of Appreciation from Community Center of Northern Westchester and proclamations from Senator Pete Harckham and the Westchester County Board of Legislators.

Speakers reflected on his wisdom, compassion, and the profound ways he has enriched countless lives.

Following the ceremony, guests joined in a champagne toast and shared blessings over challah and wine before sitting down for a sold-out anniversary dinner. The celebration was filled with laughter, music, and heartfelt memories as families and friends recounted moments from Rabbi Greenberg’s tenure — from weddings and baby namings to lifelong friendships forged under his guidance.

The evening concluded with an uplifting Shabbat service featuring musical tributes and personal reflections, followed by a joyful oneg that brought the community together once more in gratitude.

The celebration embodied the warmth, connection, and enduring spirit that have defined Temple Shaaray Tefila for half a century — and the legacy of a rabbi whose leadership continues to inspire generations.
