Super Bowl LX Preview

Patriots and Seahawks renew a familiar rivalry

Posted

A decade after one of the most iconic finishes in Super Bowl history, the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks are set to meet again on football’s biggest stage.

Super Bowl LX will be played on Sunday, Feb. 8, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, marking a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX and a clash between two teams that arrived by very different paths but with the same destination in mind.

The Matchup

Seattle enters the game as the NFC’s top seed at 14–3, powered by a balanced offense and a defense that has tightened at the right time. Under head coach Mike Macdonald, the Seahawks have blended explosive playmaking with physical, disciplined football.

The Patriots, also 14–3, are back in the Super Bowl for the first time since the end of the Tom Brady–Bill Belichick era. Now led by head coach Mike Vrabel, New England has leaned heavily on defense and situational execution, winning close games throughout the postseason.

The last time the two teams squared off in the Super Bowl in 2015, New England came out on top of a 28-24 thriller. This year, oddsmakers have installed Seattle as a modest favorite, but the matchup projects as a tight, possession-by-possession contest.

Key Players

For Seattle, quarterback Sam Darnold has delivered his most consistent season as a pro, spreading the ball effectively and limiting mistakes. Wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has emerged as a dynamic threat, while Kenneth Walker III anchors the running game. Defensively, Seattle’s speed in the secondary could dictate how aggressive New England can be downfield.

The Patriots counter with rookie quarterback Drake Maye, who has been asked to manage games rather than dominate them. New England’s success has flowed from its defense, which has excelled in red-zone situations and late-game stops. Veteran receiver Stefon Diggs remains the offense’s most dangerous weapon, capable of changing momentum with a single catch.

How to Watch & Broadcast Information

Super Bowl LX will kick off at approximately 6:40 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on NBC. Streaming options include Peacock and NFL+. The broadcast team will feature Mike Tirico on play-by-play and Cris Collinsworth as analyst, with Melissa Stark and Kaylee Hartung reporting from the sidelines.

Halftime Show and Pregame Performances

The halftime spotlight will belong to Puerto Rican rapper and singer, Bad Bunny. He is best known for songs such as “MIA” and “Yonaguni.”

Pregame festivities will include a performance by Green Day, Charlie Puth performing the National Anthem, and Brandi Carlile performing “America the Beautiful.”

Commercial Break

Super Bowl LX will continue the tradition of entertaining, star-studded commercials during breaks from the game. Hellmann’s, Bosch, Bud Light, Uber Eats, Instacart, and Pringles are all slated to air advertisements throughout the evening. Look for Andy Samberg, Guy Fieri, Post Malone, Peyton Manning, Sabrina Carpenter, and William Shatner to make appearances, along with the return of the beloved Budweiser Clydesdales.

What’s at Stake

For Seattle, a win would deliver the franchise’s second Super Bowl title and its first since the "Legion of Boom" era. For New England, a victory would bring a seventh Lombardi Trophy and signal a successful new chapter after one of the most storied dynasties in NFL history.

Different styles, familiar opponents, and the sport’s biggest stage — Super Bowl LX has all the ingredients for a classic.
