Westchester County PD blotter for April 5-9

Police responded to a mix of calls, including thefts, suspicious activity reports and traffic-related incidents, which were among the incidents reported for Mount Kisco from April 5–9.

April 5

An officer who was stationary and observing traffic in the vicinity of Main Street and Moore Avenue made a traffic stop at 12:26 a.m. after observing a vehicle speeding and operating erratically. The driver, a 24-year-old Dobbs Ferry resident, was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and issued summonses for speeding and making an unsafe lane change. The man was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending an April 9 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.

An officer on patrol on Lexington Avenue at 2:07 p.m. was flagged down by two men at the corner of Sarles Avenue. The men turned over a debit card they had found nearby. The item was vouchered for safekeeping at the Green Street precinct.

April 6

Officers responded to a business on North Bedford Road at 6:43 p.m. on a report of a person in crisis. A woman in her 20s had locked herself in a bathroom and was threatening to harm herself. Officers got the woman to come out and EMS was requested. Mount Kisco VAC took the woman to Northern Westchester Hospital, with officers following. At the hospital, officers assisted staff with controlling the woman when she tried to hurt herself and remained there until she was cooperative with staff.

April 7

Officers responded to a building on Barker Street at 12:16 a.m. on a report of an unwanted person. They located a 38-year-old woman in the laundry room who was previously issued a trespass warning barring her from the building. She was issued a summons for trespass, a violation, and directed to leave the building and not return. She is due in village court on April 23.

Officers responded to West Hyatt Avenue at 11:50 a.m. on a report of a man who took too much medication, perhaps because he was feeling depressed. Officers entered the home when the man did not answer the door to ensure his safety. He was taken by Mount Kisco VAC to Northern Westchester Hospital. Officers requested the Mobile Crisis Response Team respond to the hospital and remained until members arrived.

A Building Department employee reported at 3:06 p.m. that someone attempted to defraud a local builder by sending an email claiming to be from the village and seeking a $4,000 payment. A report was prepared. The matter was turned over to detectives.

Officers responded to a laundromat on Main Street at 5:50 p.m. on a report of an irate patron refusing to leave as requested. Condition corrected.

A man called police at 5:39 p.m. to report that he entered a business on South Moger Avenue, but no one was present and an alarm sounded. Officers were able to contact an employee to return to the store and lock the door.

A woman called police at 7:12 p.m. to report that she was locked in a building on South Bedford Road following a doctor’s appointment. Officers were able to assist her to leave the premises.

April 8

Welfare check requested at 12:17 p.m. on a man sleeping on a bench outside a laundromat on Main Street. An officer requested that the Mobile Crisis Response Team respond to provide further assistance.

Officers responded to Target on North Bedford Road at 3:14 p.m. on a report of an irate customer causing a disturbance. The man left the store but was located nearby. He was issued a trespass warning at management’s request barring him from the store.

Officers responded to Target on North Bedford Road at 6:05 p.m. after store security observed a man trying to replace a barcode on a Samsung TV set with one from a cheaper model. The store chose not to press charges but requested that the man be issued a trespass warning barring him from returning to the store.

A Barker Street resident requested police to respond at 6:15 p.m. because her car had been hit by a Frisbee. She said she attempted to speak with the father of a youth involved, but he would not talk to her. Condition corrected.

Officers responded to Target on North Bedford Road at 8:49 p.m. after security said a man walked out with a case of Miller Lite he had not paid for. A sergeant canvassing the area detained the man at Carpenter Avenue and Barker Street. The 22-year-old claimed he had paid for the beer, but a review of security video showed he walked out without doing so. He was booked at the Green Street precinct on a charge of petit larceny, a misdemeanor. He is due in village court on April 23. He also was issued a trespass warning barring him from the store.

April 9

A Carpenter Avenue resident reported at 5:07 p.m. that he was menaced with a handgun during an argument with a man in a white pickup truck. Multiple officers, including several from outside the village, responded and canvassed the area for the pickup truck. The vehicle was located on Parkview Place and the driver was taken into custody. The man denied having a handgun and said he only pointed his thumb and pointer finger at the other man to simulate a weapon. No handgun was found in his possession or in his vehicle. The 47-year-old village resident was charged with menacing, a misdemeanor. He was released following arraignment in village court and ordered to turn any weapons he possessed over to police. Officers accompanied him to his home, where he turned over three shotguns.

A Spring Street resident called police at 7:38 p.m. to request assistance from the Mobile Crisis Response Team due to issues he is having with his teenaged son. Communications personnel conducted diversion screening and determined that it was safe to send MCRT members to the home without police accompanying them. An hour later, officers were called to the residence by the father. A Domestic Incident Report was prepared.

Officers responded to Carpenter Avenue at 8:30 p.m. on a report of a domestic dispute in a parking lot there. The parties to the dispute were located in their apartment and said the dispute was verbal in nature only. A Domestic Incident Report was prepared.
