MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Mount Kisco’s year-long sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) celebrations are gathering steam.

In collaboration with the village/town and many area organizations, the local historical society has organized a presentation on “the rich heritage of local faith communities.”

It’s set for 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan 19, at the Mount Kisco Public Library, 100 East Main St., Mount Kisco, N.Y.

The United Methodist Church this year is marking the 200th anniversary of Methodism in Mount Kisco; St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, its 175th birthday; Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, its 90th; and Temple Bet Torah is turning 75.

An exhibition of photographs of historic houses of worship, past and present faith communities, and interfaith projects will be on display at the library until Thursday, Feb. 23.

"We have some amazing vintage photographs on display, including an early, all-girls choir procession at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church,” said John Rhodes, a trustee of the Mount Kisco Historical Society who worked on restoring some of the images.

Some of the images date back to the 19th century, such as the 1893 photo of the Methodist-Episcopal Church, and one of St. Mark's Episcopal Church at its first location at the center of the cemetery at today’s St. Mark's Place.

All are invited to the free event.
