MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - There was no shortage of police activity to close out 2024, including mysterious blood at an area business and several arrests for driving while intoxicated.
Dec. 14
Officers responded to the 200 block of Main Street at 7:53 a.m. after an employee opening a business for the day observed blood on the front steps. Westchester County Police had no reports overnight of any incident that would have resulted in blood loss. Northern Westchester Hospital was contacted and reported it did not treat anyone in the ER overnight for any injury or condition involving blood loss. Efforts to obtain security video of that area were unsuccessful.
A 20-year-old village resident was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, following a traffic stop on Green Street at 12:24 p.m. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a Dec. 19 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
Dec. 15
A Woodland Street resident was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after he struck a parked car while driving on Spring Street about 10:30 p.m. The man failed a field sobriety test at the scene and then complained of pain in his face and shoulder. He was taken by Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation. After being released from the hospital, he was booked at the Green Street Precinct and released pending a Dec. 19 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
Dec. 17
A Spring Street resident was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, a violation, at 9:40 p.m. Officers responded to Spring Street a short time earlier on a report that a pickup truck had struck a parked car on Spring Street and then continued down the block and into a driveway. Officers located the vehicle and took the driver into custody after he failed a field sobriety test. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a Dec. 26 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
A village resident came to the Green Street precinct at 4:23 p.m. to request information about applying for an order of protection against a relative. The resident said she is being harassed by the relative due to a dispute over ownership of a vehicle, but she did not want to press criminal charges. The resident was advised how to pursue an order of protection in Family Court.
Dec. 18
At the request of another agency, patrol officers responded to Maple Avenue at 10:20 a.m. to search for a vehicle being driven by a suicidal man. The Aviation Unit helicopter was also utilized in the effort to locate the vehicle. A short time later, Yorktown PD reported that it had stopped the vehicle on Route 100 near the Yorktown-New Castle border.
Jan. 1
An officer responded to a residence on St. Marks Place at 12:32 a.m. on a report that a 90-year-old man was injured in a fall. The officer assisted the man into a chair and waited with him for an ambulance to arrive. The man was evaluated by Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps personnel and transported to Northern Westchester Hospital.
A 40-year-old Ossining man was charged at 4:47 a.m. with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after an officer observed him on Main Street slumped over the wheel of his vehicle. The car was running and in drive, but stationary because the driver’s foot was on the brake. The man was removed from the vehicle but was too intoxicated to perform a field sobriety test. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a Jan. 9 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
Jan. 2
Report received at 1:27 a.m. of a disorderly person outside a bar in the 200 block of Main Street. The man, who was highly intoxicated and aggressive, had to be subdued by officers before being taken by Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Northern Westchester Hospital. An officer rode in the ambulance due to the patient’s aggressive behavior and stayed with emergency room staff while he was treated.
Report received at 10:18 a.m. of a solicitor going door-to-door on Gerber Court. The man was gone upon an officer’s arrival.
Jan. 3
Report received at 2:35 p.m. of two men possibly drinking in St. Mark’s Cemetery. Officers made contact with the men who said they had gone for a walk in the cemetery. They were not in possession of any alcohol nor showed any signs they had been drinking. No further police action was required.
An officer responded to a parking lot on Carpenter Avenue at 7:05 a.m. to conduct a welfare check on an elderly woman who was sitting in the lot and unable to answer questions from persons who inquired about her well-being. The woman was shivering from the cold upon an officer’s arrival and unable to tell the officer how long she had been there. The Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps also responded and took the woman to Northern Westchester Hospital for evaluation.
