MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Westchester County Police had a busy start to the month with a variety of calls in Mount Kisco.
May 4
Report received at 5:24 a.m. of an unattended vehicle parked on Woodland Street with its emergency flashers on. A responding officer located the disabled vehicle’s owner who initially declined assistance with obtaining a tow truck. After unsuccessful efforts to get the car started, the man consented to a tow.
Welfare check requested at 2:36 p.m. on a Barker Street teen who was possibly in emotional crisis. The youth told officers he was depressed and thinking of harming himself. Mount Kisco VAC was requested and transported the youth and his mother to Northern Westchester Hospital for mental health services.
Patrol officers and the Mount Kisco Fire Department responded to a church on South Bedford Road on an activated fire alarm. It was determined that a 3-year-old child had pulled an alarm box without understanding what it was. No further action was required.
Report received at 7:45 p.m. that a man who had threated to harm himself and his family members had fled from the emergency room at Northern Westchester Hospital. Medical staff advised that the man was a danger to himself or others and therefore could not decline medical attention. Patrol officers began to canvass of the area, including in Leonard Park where the man had possibly been seen. Additional County Police resources from outside the village responded to assist in the search, including a tracking canine.
May 5
The person in emotional crisis who fled from Northern Westchester Hospital the previous night was located about 6 a.m. hiding behind a home on Linden Lane in Bedford, concluding the search for him that had continued through the overnight hours.
Report received at 6:04 p.m. of a pedestrian struck by a car at Lexington and Moore Avenues. Upon arrival, an officer was told the pedestrian was being taken to the hospital by another motorist. The vehicle was located and the injured man, 30, was conscious and alert. Mount Kisco VAC responded to evaluate the man and take him to Northern Westchester Hospital. The driver, who remained on scene, failed a field sobriety test and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor. The 30-year-old Ossining man was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a May 15 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
May 7
An officer responded to Woodcrest Lane at 11:13 a.m. to assist a woman who reported she had just gotten out of the hospital and was not feeling well. EMS was also requested but the woman declined any medical attention. Her son was contacted by phone and he advised he was coming to the residence with a visiting nurse.
A 22-year-old Brooklyn man turned himself in at the Greet Street precinct at 11:54 p.m. on an outstanding warrant. He had been charged with Menacing and Criminal Mischief last fall and failed to appear in court in November to answer the charges.
May 8
Officers responded to Grove Street at 3:27 a.m. on a report that a man was locked out of his apartment. Upon arrival, officers learned that the landlord had responded to let the man in. No police assistance was needed in gaining entry.
Complaint received at 3:45 p.m. of possible fraudulent activity associated with a motor vehicle purchase at a dealership in the village. A Patrol officer collected relevant documents and prepared a report. Case turned over to detectives for continued investigation.
A village resident came to the Green Street precinct at 5:06 p.m. to report a prior verbal domestic dispute at her residence. The woman said her adult son who lives elsewhere had made threatening remarks to her outside her home and she wanted to document the incident. A Domestic Incident Report was prepared.
May 9
Officers responded to the Mount Kisco Library on Main Street at 10:36 a.m. on a report of a disorderly patron. Staff reported that a man who had been asked to turn off music that he was playing on his phone had become confrontational with staff. The man had left prior to an officer’s arrival.
Report received at 11:30 a.m. of two men sleeping inside a laundromat in the 500 block of Lexington Ave. Officers woke the men up and advised them to leave the premises since they were not customers of the business.
