Mount Kisco Police Blotter: Hotel disturbance, larceny at Target

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Westchester County Police closed out July by responding to a litany of incidents including a disturbance at a local hotel, a custody dispute, and larceny at a Target store.

July 26

A 42-year-old Ossining man was arrested at 8:13 a.m. on a bench warrant from Ossining charging him with Driving While Intoxicated and Resisting Arrest, misdemeanors. A short time earlier, an officer assigned to patrol the Saw Mill River Parkway observed a van traveling northbound with commercial license plates and made a traffic stop after the vehicle exited toward Route 133. Due to a language barrier, the officer requested assistance from a Spanish-speaking officer assigned to the Mount Kisco precinct. After investigation, the man was issued summonses returnable to Mount Kisco Justice Court for Restricted Vehicle on a Parkway, Driving Without a License and Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device, violations. He was then taken into custody and transported to Ossining PD headquarters on the outstanding warrants. The van was impounded.

A 50-year-old woman was charged with Trespass, a misdemeanor, and Disorderly Conduct, a violation at 2:38 p.m. after she caused a disturbance at Hotel MTK on Pat Reilly Way. The woman became enraged when staff declined to allow her to purchase alcohol because the bar was not open at the time. After police were called, hotel staff said they wanted her the woman to leave the property and she repeatedly refused officers’ directives to do so. After being taken into custody, the woman said she was having difficulty breathing and she was taken to Northern Westchester Hospital. She was admitted to the hospital for physical and mental health evaluations.

A man came to the Green Street precinct at 4:05 p.m. to report that his son’s mother had failed to bring the child to him for a visit as required by their custody agreement. The man said he will pursue the matter in Westchester County Family Court but wanted to document that he had immediately reported the alleged violation. He completed a supporting deposition and officers prepared a Domestic Incident Report.

July 27

Report received at 9:27 p.m. of an elderly man bleeding from a laceration to his head on Maple Avenue. An officer provided assistance to the man, who was intoxicated. Mount Kisco VAC responded to take over care and transport the man to Northern Westchester Hospital.

July 28

Report received at 9:10 p.m. of a vehicle damaged by a hit-and-run driver in the garage at Northern Westchester Hospital. A motorist reported that he parked the car at 6:30 p.m. and discovered damage to his front bumper when he returned to the car at 9 p.m. A request was made to the hospital for access to security video in the garage. The investigation remains open.

July 29

A Yorktown woman was charged with Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor, at 1:55 p.m. following a complaint from store security at Target on North Bedford Road. The woman is accused of shoplifting $197 worth of merchandise by paying for some items at a self-checkout counter but not paying for all items in her possession. She was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending an Aug. 14 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.

Report received at 4:45 p.m. of fraudulent refund transactions that occurred at TJ Maxx on East Main Street several days earlier. Loss prevention personnel provided video of three persons in the store who removed items from shelves and then went to registers to refund those items, both with and without paper receipts. The matter was turned over to detectives for investigation.

July 30

A Lexington Avenue property owner reported at 9:26 a.m. that couch cushions and other items on the front porch have been disturbed in recent days and he suspects someone is sleeping on the property without permission. A report was prepared and patrol officers were advised of the condition.

July 31

An officer on patrol on Lexington Avenue at 12:22 p.m. observed a man known to have an outstanding warrant issued by Mount Kisco Justice Court. The officer verified the man’s identity and took him into custody on the bench warrant, which charges him with Public Lewdness, a misdemeanor. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and held for arraignment.

A man used the call box at the Green Street precinct at 5:57 p.m. to report that he wanted to turn himself in due to outstanding warrants. An officer on patrol returned to the precinct, confirmed the active warrants and booked him on charges of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree, a felony, and Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor. The 36-year-old village resident was arraigned in Mount Kisco Justice Court and released pending an Aug. 21 court appearance.

Report received at 6:17 p.m. of a fight involving two men on Morgan Drive. Responding officers located a man walking on Radio Circle who said he had just been in a loud argument with a relative who had since left the area. The man said the dispute was verbal in nature only, and officers observed no indications that a physical altercation had occurred.

Aug. 1

Officers responded at 12:17 a.m. to an activated burglar alarm at a building on North Bedford Road. The premises were checked and found to be secure. The alarm company was notified.

A Barker Street resident reported at 3:42 a.m. that she believes she heard someone open the sliding glass door at the rear of her residence. Responding officers found no sign of entry into the residence and no persons were present in areas outside and near the residence.

A Grove Street resident reported at 9:40 a.m. that someone may have entered his father’s car overnight. He said he discovered the passenger door ajar when he went to move the vehicle to another parking spot a short time earlier. He was uncertain if anything of value was in the vehicle and possibly stolen. An officer advised him to have his father follow up with police if that was the case.

An officer responded to a residence on Carpenter Avenue at 1:10 p.m. to assist a man in his 70s who fell and was unable to get up. Mount Kisco VAC also responded and took the man to the hospital.
