MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Westchester County Police had a busy start to the month, responding to calls ranging from weapons charges to assault to a stolen recycling bin.
March 8
A 44-year-old Long Island man was charged at 5:30 a.m. with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, a felony, and Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after he was found passed out behind the wheel of his car at Northern Westchester Hospital. A loaded Smith & Wesson handgun was found inside the man’s car afterwards. He was booked at the Green Street Precinct, arraigned in Mount Kisco Justice Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail.
A 32-year-old village resident was arrested at 1:59 p.m. after he punched another man in the face during a dispute outside the movie theater on Main Street. The victim also reported that his glasses, valued at $700, were broken during the assault. The accused was charged with Assault 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, misdemeanors.
A 48-year-old village resident was charged with Assault 2nd Degree, a felony, after he allegedly punched and kicked another man in a parking lot on Main Street about 5 p.m. The victim reported the assault when he went to Northern Westchester Hospital for medical care for a possible broken nose and cracked ribs. The victim identified his attacker and officers began to canvass the area of in search of him. As they were doing so, the man being sought contacted police through the call box at the Green Street precinct. Officers returned to the precinct, took the man into custody and booked him on the assault charge.
March 10
A resident of Sands Street reported at 10:23 a.m. that his recycling bin had been stolen several days earlier.
March 12
A 32-year-old village resident was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, following a traffic stop at 2:17a.m. on South Bedford Road. The man was also issued summonses for making an unsafe lane change, driving without a license, and failing to wear his seat belt.
March 13
A 35-year-old Mamaroneck man surrendered to officers at the Green Street precinct at 5:22 p.m. on an arrest warrant charging him with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd Degree. He was arraigned in Mount Kisco Justice Court and released pending a future court appearance.
A 23-year-old village resident was charged at 7:25 p.m. with Bail Jumping 3rd Degree after he went to village court due to an outstanding warrant for his arrest. After being arraigned in court, he was taken to the Green Street precinct to be fingerprinted. While being processed, an additional arrest warrant was discovered that was issued by New Rochelle City Court. New Rochelle police responded to Mount Kisco to take custody of the man.
Report received at 7:59 p.m. of a hit-and-run incident on Moore Avenue. A motorist reported that a vehicle, possibly a pickup truck, sideswiped her car as it passed hers near Lexington Avenue. That vehicle stopped briefly and then fled the scene.
March 14
Report received at 8:34 a.m. of a damaged parking meter on Kisco Avenue. It was determined that a motorist had backed into the meter and then drove away.
