MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Westchester County Police had a busy start to the month, responding to calls including an open container call that led to an assault arrest, burglary, and several thefts from Target.
June 1
Officers and canines from the Hazardous Devices Unit conducted a security sweep starting at 12:30 p.m. in and around Village Hall prior to the Sesquicentennial Community Day parade, finding everything secure.
Emergency Service Unit officers and Mount Kisco VAC responded at 7:32 p.m. to a report of a car into a tree along the Saw Mill River Parkway, south of the pump house. The driver, who was conscious and alert, was extricated by ESU and turned over to MK VAC for medical care and transport.
Noise complaint was received at 1:19 a.m. regarding loud music from a residence on West Street. The condition was corrected.
June 2
An officer on patrol observed two people drinking alcohol from open containers in the Blackeby lot at 11:43 a.m. The officer also recognized one of the men as being wanted in connection with an assault that occurred on May 25. That suspect, a 45-year-old man, was taken into custody. He was booked on the assault charge and released pending a July 10 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court. The second man was issued a summons for violating a local ordinance prohibiting the public consumption of alcohol.
June 4
Officers responded to Gatto Drive at 3:52 p.m. on a report of a loud disturbance. It was determined that a verbal disagreement had occurred between roommates over access to laundry facilities. The parties were advised to work out the issue with their landlord. No further police action was necessary.
June 5
Emergency Service Unit officers responded at 8:03 p.m. to a residence on Lundy Lane on a report of a man who was possibly in emotional crisis. The man spoke with officers at his residence and agreed to meet with members of the Mobile Crisis Response Team.
Report received at 6:02 p.m. of a pedestrian struck by a car on Main Street in front of the Boys and Girls Club. Minor injury only.
An officer responded to Mount Kisco Justice Court at 6:10 p.m. after a 25-year-old Katonah man surrendered on outstanding arrest warrants. The man was booked at the Green Street precinct on DWI and various Vehicle & Traffic Law offenses, He was returned to court where he was released pending an appearance at a future date.
A 27-year-old man was charged at 9:36 p.m. with Burglary 2nd Degree, a felony, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree, a misdemeanor, following a break-in at a residence on North Moger Avenue. The resident reported that she had come home a short time earlier and found that her apartment had been entered and property stolen. After an officer viewed security camera video, a description of a suspect was broadcast and officers began to canvass the area. The suspect was located on the platform of the Metro-North station and taken into custody. He was booked at the Green Street precinct and held for arraignment.
June 6
An officer responded to a restaurant on Main Street at 11:08 p.m. after a woman reported that her estranged husband had come to her workplace in violation of a court order of protection. She told the officer that her husband took video of her and then sent her text messages after she locked herself in a bathroom to call police. The man had left the scene prior to the officers’ arrival, and a description of his vehicle was broadcast. Mount Pleasant stopped the car a short time later and detained the man for County Police. The 32-year-old Chappaqua resident was booked at the Green Street precinct on a charge of Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree (violate court order).
An officer assisted a 41-year-old Pound Ridge woman at Leonard Park at 6:01 p.m. after she reported having difficulty breathing. She was taken to the hospital by Mount Kisco VAC.
Report of a disorderly customer at CVS on South Bedford Road received at 11:56. An officer advised the person that store personnel wanted him to leave the premises and he did so. No further police action needed.
A 19-year-old Somers woman was charged at 5:03 p.m. with Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor, on a complaint from store security at Target on North Bedford Road. The woman is accused of leaving the store without paying for $146 worth of merchandise in her possession. She was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a June 26 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
A 38-year-old South Salem woman was charged at 5:40 p.m. with Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor, on a complaint from store security at Target on North Bedford Road. The woman is accused of not scanning some items as she used the self-checkout system. She left the store with $170 worth of merchandise she had not paid for and was detained. She was booked at the Green Street precinct and released pending a June 26 appearance in Mount Kisco Justice Court.
June 7
An officer responded at 9:34 p.m. to an activated burglar alarm at a residence on Beverly Road. Upon arrival, the officer was advised by the alarm company that the homeowner was present and was able to provide the proper passcode. No further police action needed.
A person used the callbox at the Green Street precinct at 7:39 p.m. to report that she was unable to find her car at the train station and believes it was stolen. An officer returned to the precinct to take a report while another canvassed the lot. The vehicle was located and the owner was advised where it was parked.
An officer was dispatched to Green Street at 12:55 p.m. to take a report regarding a hit-and-run incident that occurred the previous day. A vehicle owner reported that his car was damaged while it was parked near Stop and Shop on North Bedford Road. The man provided the license plate of a vehicle he believes struck his car and left the scene. The matter was turned over to a detective for continued investigation.
June 8
Noise complaint received at 5:03 p.m. from a resident of Lexington Avenue. The woman reported that there is regularly loud music and yelling coming from a neighboring business on weekends. The officer took a report and also provided information on how to contact the village’s code enforcement officer.
Welfare check requested on a man observed lying in a wooded area adjacent to the Boys & Girls Club on Main Street. The man told an officer he wasn’t feeling well and needed to go to the hospital. Mount Kisco VAC responded and transported the man to Northern Westchester Hospital.
Report received of a disturbance at a gas station on East Main Street at 10:34 a.m. Upon arrival, an officer was told that a young man became hostile toward staff when he attempted to purchase an alcoholic beverage and was asked for ID. The customer had left the store when police were called.
June 9
Report received at 8:03 p.m. of two men carrying another man and putting him into a vehicle on North Moger Avenue. The caller was unable to provide a detailed description of the men or the vehicle. An officer canvassed the block but was unable to locate any video capturing the incident. A witness was found who said he believed the two men were possibly taking an intoxicated man to the hospital. Northern Westchester Hospital staff advised that no intoxicated person had been brought to their facility.
An officer responded to a health club on North Bedford Road at 6:07 p.m. on a report of a person not feeling well. The health club client declined any medical attention.
Report received at 4:34 p.m. of a disorderly patron at Target on North Bedford Road. An officer escorted the man from the store and determined there was a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest in Orange County. The local police department there declined to pick him up and requested that the officer advise the man to turn himself in.
An officer on patrol was dispatched to the Green Street precinct to take a report from a person who said he was scammed out of $2,700 on the Internet. The incident occurred at the man’s home in Bedford and was referred to the Bedford Police Department.
June 10
An officer responded to High Street at 6:40 a.m. to assist a woman who reported she was bleeding excessively as a result of a medical procedure she had the previous day. Westchester EMS also responded to provide care and transported the woman to Northern Westchester Hospital.
June 11
An officer responded to the Green Street precinct at 11 a.m. to take a report regarding a hit-and-run property damage accident that occurred the night before. A village resident reported that his vehicle was damaged while it was parked at a health club on Kensico Drive between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. The officer took photos of damage to the vehicle and went to the health club to seek any video that might have captured the incident. Investigation continuing.
An officer responded to a gas station East Main Street at 12:23 a.m. on a report of a dispute between a customer and employee over change given following a lottery ticket purchase. The officer was able to resolve the dispute to both parties’ satisfaction.
