Mount Kisco Police Blotter: Domestic disputes, machete threat

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Westchester County Police responded to numerous calls in August, including multiple domestic disturbances and a threat of violence involving a machete.

Aug. 10

Report received at 8:10 p.m. of a domestic dispute at a Barker Street residence. A woman there told officers she called 911 following an argument with her husband because he pushed her during the dispute. She declined to press charges. Officers prepared a Domestic Incident Report.

Officers responded back to Barker Street at 11:30 p.m. on a report of another verbal dispute at the same apartment. The husband was advised to leave the premises for the night to calm the situation and he agreed to do so. Officers waited for him to gather some belongings and escorted him from the premises.

A resident used the call box at the Green Street precinct at 7:19 p.m. to report that he was being followed by another man that he has an order of protection against. An officer on patrol was dispatched to the precinct and located the man described by the complainant in the area. It was determined, however, that there was no related order of protection issued by any court. The complainant then left the scene but EMS was requested for the other party because he was highly intoxicated. A box cutter found in that man’s possession was confiscated by officers to ensure the safety of EMS personnel transporting him to the hospital.

Aug. 11

Report received at 1:32 a.m. of a man possibly trying to open car doors at a car dealership on Kisco Avenue. No one was present in the lot upon officers’ arrival. Parking lots at other dealerships, businesses and apartment complexes in the area were checked with similar negative results.

A resident of Oakridge Road reported at 7:33 p.m. that another man threatened to assault him with a machete during a dispute over a parking space. The complaint told responding officers that he never saw a machete but said that the other men had threatened to go get one. The other party to the dispute denied making any such threat during the argument over parking. The parties to the dispute were sent their separate ways.

A Prospect Street resident reported at 10:22 p.m. that a drone was hovering over his house. An officer responded but did not observe a drone over the home or above any adjacent streets.

Aug. 12

Officers responded at 12:24 a.m. to a residence on West Street on a report of a domestic disturbance. A woman reported that her ex-boyfriend, who was moving out of the apartment, shoved her during an argument, causing her to fall to the ground. A Domestic Incident Report was prepared.

An officer responded to Maplewood Drive at 2:37 p.m. on a report of an elderly female having difficulty breathing. Mount Kisco VAC was on scene and providing care upon the officer’s arrival. She was taken by ambulance to Northern Westchester Hospital.

Aug. 13

A 37-year-old man was charged at 4:44 a.m. with Disorderly Conduct and Consumption and Possession of an Alcoholic Beverage in Public, violations, after officers responded to Barker Street on a report of a man unconscious on the sidewalk. Officers found an intoxicated man asleep next to an open car of beer and woke him up. The man declined any medical attention and became loud and belligerent with officers. Due to the hour and proximity to apartments, he was advised multiple times to lower his voice and refused to do so. He was taken into custody at that time and transported to the Green Street precinct, where he was issued summonses returnable to Mount Kisco Justice Court on Sept. 4.

Aug. 14

Officers responded to Spring Street at 7:53 a.m. on an activated fire alarm. Entry to an apartment was made with the assistant of the building superintendent. No one was present and there was no visible fire. Mount Kisco FD also responded, confirmed there was no fire anywhere in the structure and determined a faulty smoke detector most likely triggered the false alarm.

Foot patrol of Washington Trail commenced at 8:20 a.m. All in order.

Report received at 10:45 a.m. of graffiti on a retaining wall along Kisco Avenue. An officer canvassed a nearby church and businesses but was unable to locate any security camera video capturing the vandalism as it occurred.

Foot patrol commenced at 5:48 p.m. on South Moger Avenue and Kirby Plaza.

Aug. 15

Officers responded to a gas station convenience store at 4 a.m. on an activated panic alarm. An employee told officers he activated the alarm after a customer became enraged and started throwing items around the store after he was denied an alcohol purchase. Officers canvassed the area for the customer but were unable to locate him.

Foot patrol in Leonard Park commenced at 9:54 a.m.

Officers responded to a Lexington Avenue apartment at 11 a.m. after a woman reported a domestic dispute that occurred the night before. A Domestic Incident Report was prepared.
