Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry rebrands as 'The Pantry'

Organization readies to lead Westchester during Hunger Action Month

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - This September, the Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry is stepping into a new chapter with a new name: "The Pantry."

The updated name reflects the organization’s expanding mission to serve all of Northern Westchester while continuing its work to fight food insecurity.

“This new chapter, as The Pantry, better represents our commitment to all of Northern Westchester,” said Trina Ward Fontaine, Executive Director. “Hunger Action Month is our opportunity to unite and take real steps toward a hunger-free future.”

The Pantry serves families in 21 local communities, where one in three residents struggles with poverty or lives paycheck to paycheck. For many, including seniors, working adults, and children, food insecurity is a daily reality.

To mark Hunger Action Month, The Pantry has rolled out a series of events and partnerships designed to raise awareness and encourage community involvement:

  • Food Drives (Sept. 20): Local grocery stores—including DeCicco & Sons (Armonk, Bedford, Millwood), Stop & Shop Mount Kisco, Shop Rite Mount Kisco, and The Market at Pound Ridge Square—will host collection drives, with a goal of more than 3,000 pounds of food donations.

  • Shopping for a Cause: Throughout September, businesses like Exit 4 Food Hall, Four Seasons Flower Shop, Mt. Kisco Seafood, Stone Fire, The Ambleside Pub, and oHHo in Bedford (featuring Pizza Girls) will donate a portion of proceeds to The Pantry. More partners are expected to join.

  • Community Events: The Pantry will be present at Mount Kisco’s Septemberfest and New Castle Day on Sept. 13, sharing information and encouraging support.

  • Golf Outing (Sept. 29): The Bedford Armonk Rotary is hosting its first annual “Fore The Pantry” event at Salem Golf Club. Both golfers and non-golfers can participate, with cocktail reception tickets available at www.forethepantry.org.

Each week, The Pantry provides food to about 700 families—more than 2,000 individuals—thanks to the help of volunteers and donors who unload deliveries, pack produce, make home deliveries, and lend financial support.
