Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry celebrates success of 'Community Table'

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - The Mount Kisco Interfaith Food Pantry (MKIFP) had beautiful weather for their second annual "Community Table" spring fundraiser on April 24.

Almost 200 guests attended the event, which was held at a private residence in Katonah. The stunning venue, set amid rolling hills and gorgeous gardens, vibrated with the joy and inspiration that arises when a community unites for a shared purpose. In this case, the purpose was to combat food insecurity in Northern Westchester.

“What began as a simple idea, neighbors gathering for a shared meal, has grown into a powerful symbol of shared community connection and care,” said Trina Ward Fontaine, Executive Director of MKIFP. “The Community Table represents our collective intention to come together in support of those in need, whether through donations of time, resources, or generosity of spirit.”

In her remarks at the event, Fontaine explained, “It costs us $1.3 million per year to provide food for the over 700 families that come to the Pantry each week from 21 communities in Northern Westchester. That equates to 118,000 'people' visits. 30,000 of whom are children and 13,000 seniors.”

She also pointed out that the current need is greater than ever as the price of food skyrockets and a record number of families come through the Pantry's doors each week.

The MKIFP is a community-driven organization dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of Northern Westchester residents by providing weekly nutritious food and complementary education and services to those in need. With the support of the community and congregational partners, the Pantry honors the dignity of those it serves and continues to fight against hunger. The co-chairs for the “Community Table” event were Jessica Crescenzi and Rhonda Spevak, and the event's hosts were Sam Green and Chris Lacovara. The MC was Sam Hollander, a Billboard-chart-topping, multi-platinum songwriter. Individual and business sponsors, along with many in-kind vendors and generous supporting vendors, contributed to the fundraiser’s success, which exceeded expectations.
