Larceny arrest at Target and more from the Aug. 2–6 Mount Kisco police blotter

The Aug. 2-6 Mount Kisco police blotter includes a man found dead in a basement, a woman injured after being run over in a parking lot, a man accused of threatening a taxi driver and punching the rear of his cab, and a woman arrested for petit larceny at Target.

Aug. 2

Report received at 12:34 p.m. of a pedestrian struck by a car in the South Moger Avenue parking lot. A 71-year-old Brewster woman was walking to her car when a pickup truck backed out of a parking space and struck her, knocked her down and drove over her right leg. She was taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. The driver, a Bedford Hills man, remained at the scene. Report prepared.

An officer on patrol on North Moger Avenue at 4:20 p.m. observed a man with an open bottle of beer. The man was issued a summons for Public Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage, a violation. He is due in court on Sept. 3.

An officer conducting a foot patrol and inspection at the Early Settlement Trail at 8:17 p.m. encountered a group of men, two of whom were in possession of open cans of beer. The officer escorted the men back to his patrol vehicle and issued them summonses for Public Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage, a violation. They are due in Mount Kisco Justice Court on Sept. 3.

Aug. 3

An officer on patrol in the 600 block of East Main Street at 3:46 p.m. observed a man on vacant commercial property that is posted with No Trespassing signs. The man was also found in possession of an open can of beer. He was issued summonses for Trespass and Public Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage, violations. He is due in village court on Sept. 10.

An officer on patrol at South Moger Avenue and Kirby Plaza at 5:37 p.m. observed a man riding a bicycle on the sidewalk. The man was issued a summons for violating a village ordinance.

Officers responded to the 300 block of North Bedford Road at 4:21 p.m. on a report of a pedestrian struck by a car in a parking lot. A man told officers that a vehicle made minor contact with him and he was not injured. He declined medical attention.

A 49-year-old man was charged with Menacing 3rd Degree after he allegedly threatened to harm a taxi driver during an argument in Kirby Plaza. The driver told officers he beeped his horn and waved toward a fellow driver when the suspect became enraged because he thought the driver had beeped at him. Witnesses told officers the suspect punched the rear of the taxi, challenged the driver to get out of his vehicle to fight, and then made threats to find the man and harm him.  The suspect, who was intoxicated, was taken into custody, booked at the Green Street precinct and held for arraignment.

Aug. 4

Report received at 5:13 a.m. of a man causing a disturbance outside a business on East Main Street. Condition corrected.

An officer was dispatched back to the Green Street precinct at 12:08 p.m. to meet a person who wanted to report being defrauded via a text message. Report prepared.

An officer responded to the pool at Leonard Park at 2:14 p.m. on a report of a 12-year-old girl who was unconscious but breathing. The girl was conscious and alert upon arrival. Westchester EMS evaluated the girl on scene. The girl and her father declined any additional medical attention.

An officer on patrol at Lexington Avenue and East Main Street at 8:08 p.m. observed a group of men at the entrance to the Early Settlement Trail, one of them in possession of an open can of beer. The man was issued a summons for Public Consumption of Alcohol, a violation. He is due in village court on Sept. 10.

An officer on patrol in the 400 block of Main Street at 9:04 p.m. observed a man sitting on a wall at St. Mark’s Cemetery with an open can of beer next to him. The man was issued a summons for Public Consumption of Alcohol, a violation. He is due in village court on Sept. 10.

Aug. 5

Foot patrol on Main Street from 1:58 to 2:17 p.m. The Peekskill Police Department advised at 5:56 p.m. that it had a woman in custody who was wanted on a WCPD warrant issued by Mount Kisco Justice Court. An officer responded from headquarters to take the woman into custody. The 51-year-old Bronx woman was booked on charges of Grand Larceny 4th Degree and Petit Larceny and held overnight at headquarters for arraignment the next day.

Aug. 6

Officers responded to the 300 block of Main Street at 10:10 a.m. on a report of a person possibly living in a wooded area behind the Boys & Girls Club. Officers found a tent and some possessions, but no one was present. DPW was notified to remove the property.

Officers responded to Target on North Bedford Road at 5:02 p.m. on a report of a larceny. Store security detained a 66-year-old Holmes, N.Y., woman and said she had tried to leave the store without paying for $100.70 worth of merchandise in her possession. The woman was booked at the Green Street precinct on a charge of Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor. She was released pending an Aug. 20 appearance in village court.

Officers responded to a building in the 400 block of Lexington Avenue at 5:51 p.m. on a report of a man who was possibly deceased in the basement.  The man was pronounced deceased at the scene by Mount Kisco VAC personnel. Due to very poor air quality in the basement, the death investigation was halted to allow Mount Kisco FD and the WCPD Hazardous Device Team to assess the environment to ensure the safety of investigators on scene. After the area was deemed safe, WCPD detectives and Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office personnel completed the death investigation and the deceased was removed. The 46-year-old man was tentatively identified by an officer on scene who had issued him a summons several days before. That summons was found in the man’s possession. The Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy the next morning and concluded the man had died of natural causes.
