MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - Police were called to a Mount Kisco fitness club after receiving a report of a near drowning earlier this week.

According to Capt. Jeffrey Weiss of the Westchester County Police, the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, and involved a five-year-old boy from Chappaqua who’d been found floating face down in the outdoor pool at the Genesis-Saw Mill Club on Kensico Drive.

The child, who’d been pulled out of the water and given CPR by someone police said had identified themselves as a summer camp swim instructor, was conscious and communicating by the time officers arrived at the scene.

Members of the Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported the boy to the Westchester County Medical Center in Valhalla where he was met by his parents, Weiss said.

The boy was said to be recovering.

No other details were available and a call requesting a comment from the club’s general manager had not been returned.

Halston Media also reached out to the Westchester County Health Department. The person answering the phone there said the department was aware of the report and would have someone contact the reporter.

The pool remained closed as of Saturday, June 28, morning. A state-mandated review is being conducted.

An investigation is underway, Weiss said.
